Note to self . . .

It's another cold, grey day in Detroit. I believe this peregrine falcon, outside my office window, is thinking the same thing that I am: next year, go south with the rest of the Snowbirds!

Hey, scoop him up, put him aboard NW Airlines, and send him to SW International Airport and we will pick him up. We've done it before!! Poor guy.

LOL! That had never occurred to me. You are such a sweetie, but I think he actually BELONGS here, Snowbird! Our DNR would jump on me fast if I tried to sneak him out of town after they worked so hard to relocate them here in the 1980s! I don't know why our peregrines don't always migrate, but I suspect they are affected by the Detroit malaise that gets so many of us.

Still, just in case, I contacted the local peregrine watchers to ask them whether he is in trouble. Meanwhile, would someone please scoop ME up and fly me south! :)

Just as I suspected, our peregrines stay here all year long. The experts suggested that it might be a way to make sure no one takes their spot. They must be the only ones who consider this prime real estate. Talk about bird brained!
