Fat Friday

Here in too-cold Michigan, kids don't get a whole week off for Mardi Gras, so we needed to make the most of this weekend.    Today my grandchildren made Valentines (since this is a double duty holiday), but better still,  Mardi Gras masks, and then the kids decorated a New Orleans King Cake before our  dinner of red beans & rice with cornbread.   This was my kind of celebration!   Food, fun, and more food!

Looks like the kids had fun making their masks. The food looks great! But I'm all about food, too!

Love the masks. Periwinkle Park is celebrating Mardi Gras Tuesday with a parade, king and queen and a cookout. Always a good time.
