What IS This?!

I was watering my garden this morning, avoiding getting ready to go to work (as usual).   Just a normal, lazy morning.    When suddenly I saw this huge wasp-like bug on a garlic blossom.    It's hard to tell from the photo, but this creature is about 2 inches long, and unlike anything I've ever seen - and I've seen a bunch of bugs in my lifetime!    Can anyone identify it?
And now, moments later -- thank you Google! -- I can tell you that it's a Cicada Killer Wasp.    I've been around cicadas my whole life, but I've never seen their giant nemesis.   They nest in the soil of a sparsely planted lawn -- guilty -- and our cooperative extension says that the best way to get rid of them is to water and fertilize the grass.     Experience tells me that's not likely to happen at my house, so no more bare feet in my back yard!
